Canadian production company, Apartment 11, brings hidden-camera show Rank the Prank to global audiences
MONTREAL, Canada (Oct. 18, 2016) — Rank the Prank, a practical joke show that empowers kids by pairing them with renowned special effects experts to stage the most entertaining hidden-camera pranks, will debut Oct. 24 on Nickelodeon for audiences in the United States, Europe and international territories.
The 13-episode series, co-produced by Montreal-based Apartment 11, reflects the company’s passion collaborating with international partners to advance a new format of prank shows for the enjoyment of kids all around the world.
“Kids are going to love watching other kids direct special effects artists to do their bidding. The result is always hilarious and good fun,” Executive Producer Jonathan Finkelstein says.
In each of the 13 episodes, a panel of “Ranksters” rates which team executed the best prank, offering winners a chance to pull a “Mega Prank” on a target of their choosing.
Together with U.K. co-producer CBBC Productions, Apartment 11 enlisted the talents of producers who specialize in prank-themed shows.
“Following our combined success working with CBBC Productions on the local version of one of our earlier hit prank series, it’s exciting to share with global audiences this new format, crafted by superb TV pranking minds,” Finkelstein says.
Rank the Prank producers are experienced pranksters: Jaymie Hansen was a writer on Prank Patrol while Nick Hopkin produced several prank-themed series.
Rank the Prank, which has been airing weekly on CBBC since its premiere on Sept. 3, will begin airing in Canada on Jan. 30, 2017 on BBC Kids.
The show was developed with CBBC Productions, led by Ben Armstrong, and Executive Producer for CBBC is Sid Cole.
“We’re confident viewers will laugh out loud watching the show as much as we laughed while making it,” Finkelstein says.
Rank the Prank is an official United Kingdom-Canada co-production, produced by CBBC Productions and Apartment 11 Productions in association with Nickelodeon and BBC Kids.
