Apartment 11 Productions is proud to announce that its series, Mystery Hunters, has been nominated for a CFTPA Indie Award.

The CFTPA Indie Awards are specifically intended to celebrate independent producers of high-quality programming. The CFTPA honours this commitment to excellence by announcing the first annual CFTPA Indie Awards ceremony to be held on the evening of February 20, 2008 at the Westin Ottawa. The CFTPA will recognize outstanding Canadian producer achievement in ten categories of the film, television, and new media industry.

In the Mystery Hunters series, two intrepid young reporters, Araya Mengesha and Christina Broccolini, with the help of a skeptical magician and scientist Doubting Dave (David Acer), set out to explore some of the world’s greatest myths and mysteries. Combining on-site reporting and exciting adventures, the Mystery Hunters use science and reasoning to try to uncover the truth. Mystery Hunters encourages children to question the world around them while simultaneously blending science, myth, and humour to bring viewers answers and show them that learning is filled with adventure and discovery.

Mystery Hunters is the winner of the NHK Japan Prize (2007) and Parent’s Choice Award 2006. The series has also been nominated for eight Gemini Awards including Best Children’s or Youth Non-Fiction program or series; and the 2006 Prix Jeunesse Award in the Non-Fiction category for ages 7-11.

Mystery Hunters is produced in association with YTV, Discovery Networks International, and Discovery Kids and with the participation of the Shaw Rocket Fund.
